So after having my hair done at the Regis salon in House of Fraser in Manchester a couple of weeks ago, they were fabulous enough to get in touch and let me try out some of their products too! My hair isn’t low maintenance, and I really struggle with how dry and flat it is, so they selected 3 products which they thought could help me . . .
Olive Oil Evoo Lite Leave In Conditioner – £9.99
So this is a leave in conditioner that is to be sprayed on to towel dried hair, and then brushed through. The bottle does instruct to use the product all over, however I have avoided the roots of my hair as it can be quite flat, and I didn’t want to risk it looking greasy!! I had never used an olive oil product in my hair, and the product is also a cream which surprised me seems as it was a spray, but I am actually quite impressed! The spray smells great, which is a bonus, and it does make your hair feel softer, and less coarse, particularly at the ends!! I would say you need to use the product quite generously but it seems to be lasting for ages, it still barely looks like I’ve used it, and it does have a fairly similar effect to over leave in conditioners, but over all it has helped to soften and smooth my hair.
DESIGNLINE Expandability Blow Dry Gel – £9.99
I was quite apprehensive about this product, I personally never usually make much of an effort with blow drying my hair, I’m terrible at it, and I find that it just leaves my hair quite frizzy and dry, especially as I find it so hard to give it any kind of shape myself! My usual routine is to just blast it with the hairdryer, and then style it with straighteners or curlers after, but I gave it a go, and I actually got on quite well with it! You apply a fairly generous amount of the gel to towel dried hair from the roots to the tip (I was worried about putting product on my roots again, but I tried it and it was fine) and then when heat is applied – your hairdryer – it helps to give your hair more volume, which was fab for someone with hair as flat as mine! Admittedly I did make more of an effort to at least use a brush and try to slightly style my hair as I blow-dried it, so that may have made a difference too, but I do feel like my hair felt bouncier and light weight, and there was an improved amount of volume, so overall I am pretty happy, my flatmate also agreed with this when she used some! My hair was still fairly fluffy though, and was screaming out for some oil, which leads on to the next product . . .
DESIGNLINE Silk Drops Repair & Shine Serum – £12.99
As I’ve been banging on about it recently, you’ve probably gathered I am a big fan of hair oils, I honestly don’t know how people survive without it. As usual this is another one which can be used on either wet or dry hair, as and when it’s needed, and although it is a little more expensive than alternatives, it goes a very long way, you maybe need three drops max, especially if it is being used on dry hair! I personally didn’t find that this was the best oil to use on wet hair, I just didn’t particularly notice that much difference, however on dry hair, it is great. It isn’t as lightweight as others, but it really smooths your hair, especially on days where it has just exploded into a fluffy frizzy mess, and I have found it great to use after I have blow-dried my hair, using the other two products first! It adds a nice shine to your hair too, but definitely only apply this to the body and ends of your hair, put it no where near your roots or it will look very greasy, you have been warned!
Overall I was impressed with the products, they aren’t ridiculously expensive like a lot of salon products are, and they all seem to last quite a long time, which means you’re not going to have to constantly re-purchase them. This is good when they are a little more expensive than some drug store alternatives, it justifies the price!
