So yesterday I finally got my hair done again properly, and had a fresh balayage, cut and finish, and there is nothing that makes you feel better about yourself than sorting your hair out and changing things up a bit. I’d been debating what to do with my hair for months now, and I am so happy with the results, I am SO much blonder than I was before, and although I’m still going to have to keep working on toning it (I’m tempted to go almost silver in the future) the hairdresser who did it was fabulous and has made it as ashy as possible, it’s really not easy to knock out all hints of yellow!!
For anyone interested I had it done by Ryan in the Regis Salon on the second floor of House of Fraser in Manchester city centre, and I would 100% recommend both him and the salon!
So whilst I was on a hair hype, I thought I’d write up a quick overview of my haircare routine, I don’t have the easiest hair in the world, it’s very long, I have dry ends but the roots get greasy very quickly, and it has no real style anymore (it used to be so curly it was approaching afro curls but now it is barely even wavy, weird) and I have tried soooooo many products to help keep the condition good after bleaching it, so here are the products I use currently on a weekly basis.
Tresemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo & Luxurious Moisture Conditioner

So currently this is the shampoo and conditioner I use as my standard wash. I have to fight my inner OCD massively to buy two that don’t match, but as my hair tends to lack both volume and moisture, I find this combination works best for me. Volumising conditioners just don’t seem to make my hair smooth and it goes really fluffy, and moisturising shampoos make my hair too greasy on top, so this combination works for me.
Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo & Conditioner

I use these pretty much every third wash, instead of the tresemme. They are specially formulated for bleached hair (the balayage effect in my hair) and eliminate any yellow or brassy tones, which I personally am always looking to get rid of!! It works pretty well, I leave the shampoo on for as long as possible, but I do tend to get bored waiting so maybe about 10 minutes, so that it really works it’s magic! You shouldn’t use purple shampoo any more than this or it will damage your hair and make it go brittle, as well as actually making it turn purple!
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstruction Deep Treatment

I basically just use this as and when I feel I need it, when my hair has been feeling particularly dry or I’ve noticed my ends look terrible!! Use a generous amount so it completely coats your hair fully, and simply leave it on for 3 minutes (I tend to leave it a little longer). Wash it out, and then when your hair is dry and styled it feels so much softer and smoother!
Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Conditioning Spray

I’ve only discovered this fairly recently (it was featured in January’s favourites) but I honestly love it so much! Designed to essentially do the same thing as the Bleach Blondes shampoo, it keeps your blonde looking ashy and white rather than yellowy, but I would actually say when used generously, it can give even better results!! I use it every other or every third wash, and you simply spray it into towel dried hair, brush it through and leave it, it doesn’t make your hair dry, and it’s so easy!
OGX Renewing Argon Oil

I use this after every wash, I cannot live without some form of hair oil, and although I haven’t had this one for long, I quite like it, it’s so lightweight!! You hardly need any, and it could really be applied to wet or dry hair to be honest, but I tend to just use it in towel dried hair, and then if one day my ends feel particularly dry, I might rub a little in whilst it’s dry! It stops it from being so frizzy, and adds moisture!
